Orient Cables (India) Limited was incorporated in September 2005 and operates in the networking cables and passive networking equipment industry. With nearly two decades of industry experience, the company supplies products to a wide range of sectors, including telecommunications, broadband, data centres, renewable energy, smart buildings, security and surveillance, automotive, railways, defence and aerospace.
The company manufactures a broad range of networking and specialty cable products, including CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6 and CAT6A cables, optical fibre cables, CCTV and coaxial cables, instrumentation and control cables, power cables, patch cords, fibre patch cords, keystone jacks, power cords and power strips. It also develops customized cable solutions according to specific customer requirements.
Orient Cables has been expanding beyond conventional networking products into newer applications such as EV charging cables, solar junction boxes, E-beam irradiated specialty cables, cable harnesses and tethered drone systems. Its EV charging cables are TÜV certified. As of June 30, 2026, the company had an installed manufacturing capacity of approximately 895,776 km and employed 613 permanent and 1,327 contractual workers.
According to the 1Lattice Report cited in the company's IPO documents, Orient Cables was among the top four networking cable players in India in Fiscal 2026, with an estimated market share of approximately 22.9%. The company has also expanded its customer base across multiple end-user industries, which provides exposure to several infrastructure and technology-driven markets.
Established Industry Presence: Orient Cables has been operating in the networking cable and passive networking equipment industry since 2005. Its long operating history provides experience in manufacturing and serving customers across multiple applications.
Diversified Product Portfolio: The company offers networking, optical fibre, power, CCTV, instrumentation and specialty cable products. Its expansion into EV charging cables, solar junction boxes and other specialized products further broadens its product mix.
Exposure to Multiple Growth Sectors: The company's products are used in telecom, broadband, data centres, renewable energy, e-mobility, smart buildings, security, railways and other industries. This gives the business exposure to several infrastructure and technology-related demand areas.
Manufacturing Capacity: With an installed capacity of approximately 895,776 km as of June 30, 2026, the company has a significant manufacturing base. The IPO also proposes capital expenditure for machinery, equipment and civil works at its manufacturing facilities.
Customer and Product Customization: Orient Cables develops customized products based on customer requirements. This capability can help the company address application-specific requirements across different industries.
High IPO Valuation: At the upper price band, the company's post-issue P/E is stated at approximately 23.61x based on the IPO financial information. Investors should compare this valuation with industry peers, growth prospects and profitability before assessing the pricing of the issue.
Significant Borrowings: The company reported total borrowings of Rs. 258.46 crore as of June 30, 2026, compared with Rs. 234.19 crore as of March 31, 2026. Higher debt can increase interest costs and financial pressure if business conditions weaken.
Dependence on Raw Material Prices: Cable manufacturing requires various raw materials and components. Changes in the prices of key inputs can affect manufacturing costs and margins, particularly if increases cannot be passed on to customers.
Competitive Industry: The networking and cable market includes several established manufacturers and competing products. Pricing pressure, technological changes and competition for customers can affect the company's revenue and profitability.
Execution Risk in Capacity Expansion: A portion of the fresh issue proceeds is intended for manufacturing-related capital expenditure. Delays in expansion, higher-than-expected project costs or slower utilization of additional capacity could affect the expected benefits from these investments.
